Proposals for Future Use of Land in Sandhoe

Formal Land Allocation notice

This is your opportunity to have your say on the future of Tynedale.

Tynedale Council has begun a process of developing a Local Development Framework to replace the Tynedale District Local Plan published in April 2000.  The approved "Core Strategy Development Plan" for the Local Development Framework was published on 17 October 2007 (http://www.tynedale.gov.uk/residents/serviceinfo.asp?type=201).  Part of the process involves identifying key pieces of land which may be earmarked for future development for housing or employment or other purposes.  In 2006 Tynedale Council asked a number of local organisations, land owners and agents to suggest uses for plots of land across the district.  This has now been completed and the resulting 'Site Allocations Development Plan Document' is publicly available for comment.  The document identifies plots of land by parish and invites those affected by the suggestions to comment on their appropriateness.  The documents and plans are available on line at www.tynedale.gov.uk or by post from the Council (01434 652460).

The suggestions should be read in conjunction with the Core Strategy document available from the same source.

The public consultation period has been extended "through Autumn 2007" from the original deadline of 14th September 2007 because additional Site Allocation suggestions have emerged during the consultation.  Comments can therefore still be made to the Council using the form provided.  Using this feedback, the Council will prepare a Preferred Options document by February 2008 and it will be formally submitted to the Secretary of State in October 2008.  An independent examination of the proposals will be made by a Government appointed Planning Inspector, the result of which will be the adoption (or rejection) of the Site Allocations Document in May 2010.
