Permit questions

[back]
The following are questions raised by residents about various aspects of the Permit.

[27 April 2008 - EW]
In para 9.14 of the amendments listed at the end of the report, it says that any wood contaminated by halogenated compounds (whatever they are!) or heavy metals shall be rejected or diverted for use as fuel.  However, in the main report, para 5.64 (page 49), it says “no hazardous waste will be burned”.  Am I right in thinking that the two statements are contradictory – some of that old wood is bound to have lead paint on it, amongst other nasty things!
On page 39, near the bottom, there’s a horrendous list of ‘possible emissions’, but there is “no limit – monitoring is required to gather data”.  I would like to know if this is being done and whether a deadline been set?
Also, para 5.50 page 46, talks about sampling points; I presume these are the ones operated by Egger and are dependent on Egger staff monitoring and reporting.  When does the regulator assess the accuracy and frequency of testing?  When there are complaints?  On a regular, agreed basis?
