A few thoughts from Ian and Elaine following the "launch" of the public consultation on the Egger permit to operate at a meeting of Tynedale Council Scrutiny and Oversight Committee for the Environment last night.  Local residents Elaine, Clare, John, Laurence and Ian were there to observe.  Other than Elaine, there were no parish councillors at the meeting.

On Wednesday 9 January, Tynedale Council will launch the consulation period for the new Egger operating permit.  This is a very important document because it will lay out the environmental conditions under which Egger will be able to operate their business.  It is vital that residents scrutinise this document carefully and voice their concerns within the consultation period as there will be no other opportunities to amend it once it has been granted.  This means that any matters which later cause nuisance or annoyance cannot later become a grievance.  The planning application in 2005 and the subsequent processes are a prime example of how so many of the technicalities were simply accepted by the community unaware of the significant consequences that are now being suffered. 

Below is the initial list of questions that have been posed to Nick Barrett, prior to the launch of the consultation. 

Once again the Sandhoe Community is leading with pointed questions to Egger in the campaign to ensure a noise free lifestyle for Oakwood and Anick residents.
